Color Paper to Choose

I usually do my card with 2 types of paper, one is the half transparent paper (some call it vellum paper, parchment paper, tracing paper....etc) which is where the design is done on. The other color paper is place inside as the inner paper to write personal message of the card.

here are the inner color paper available:

As for the vellum paper, usually is in white (non color). but I manage to find some colored ones too. it's very hard to get so I will use it very wisely. Currently these are the colors I have.

you can refer to my previous post, the Christmas bell and the love shapes card is the one using color transparent paper number 2 and 3 accordingly. The rest are the white (non color) vellum paper with different inner color paper.

What is parchment craft

Historians believe that parchment craft (纸蕾丝) originated as an art form in Europe during the 15th or 16th century. Parchment craft at that time occurred principally in Catholic communities, where crafts persons created lace-like items such as devotional pictures and communion cards. The craft developed over time, with new techniques and refinements being added.

In the 19th century, influenced by French romanticism, parchment crafters began adding floral themes and cherubs and hand embossing.

Until the 16th century, parchment craft was a European art form. However, missionaries and other settlers relocated to South America, taking parchment craft with them.

Parchment craft today involves various techniques, including tracing a pattern with white or colored ink, embossing to create a raised effect, stippling, perforating, coloring and cutting.
Parchment craft appears in hand made cards, as scrapbook embellishments, as bookmarks, lampshades, decorative small boxes, wall hangings and more.

For those who are interested to know more on parchment craft, Here's the link to Wikipedia explaining all the techniques: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parchment_craft
